Moorabbin Cricket Club
Welcome back to another exciting season of All Abilities Cricket at Moorabbin Cricket Club. We had a fantastic time last year and are looking to build on this with some new faces in both playing and adminstration providing the basis for a successful year ahead.
Now entering our 6th season Moorabbin Cricket Club's All Abilities program has not only established itself as an all-inclusive program locally but has also gained widespread recognition and respect from Cricket Victoria and Cricket Australia. We are slowly but surely making inroads in the area of community engagement and letting all the cricket bodies know that this type of cricket is fantastic and is growing in popularity. With that will come the support.
For the newcomers this season, welcome and hope that you enjoy what we have to offer. Moorabbin Cricket Club is an old and highly respected club which is celebrating 90 years in existence. Playing in the Victorian Sub District Cricket Association we have produced State and Test cricketers and well as boasting numerous international players in the past. Moorabbin also has a long and proud commitment to engaging our diverse community. This means that we don’t discriminate or focus on just some parts of our community. We know that our community is rich and diverse with all types of people who love and want to play the game of cricket. As a result we lead most clubs across Victoria in embracing multiculturalism and have been paving the way to provide those with a disability the opportunity to play cricket.
Registration day for the season is Sunday October 19th at 10am. We would like to see all players down at the club on the day and will outline plans for the year.
This year the club is very excited about the season ahead and the prospect of over 50 players being a part of the all abilities program. Again Andy Fry and I will be heading up the coordination of the Program with the help of some enthusiastic club volunteers who are keen to provide their support. As part of our ongoing commitment to the All Abilities program each year our volunteers attend specific communication training sessions provided by the Glen Eira or Stonnington Councils. These training sessions are designed to inform and assist these volunteers to better support the All Ability players and so far have been of great value.
This year the club will again be charging a small membership fee of $90 to cover the insurance and other ongoing costs to run this program. This fee also covers the costs of an official Moorabbin cap and top as worn by all senior players in one day games. Over the last couple of years Moorabbin has been able to source some small grants and funding to assist with covering some of the costs of purchasing equipment and running the program. As part of their commitment to its success the Club has covered the shortfall in this area. This season as we continue to grow as we hope to source extra funding through some company and corporate sponsorships connected with family, friends and contacts of our players.
Visit the playcricket.com.au and register with Moorabbin and pay on-line or make an EFT payment to the club and e-mail confirmation to Moorabbin@club.cricketvictoria.com.au or register at the first training session which will be announced soon.
